How to Cut a Window Opening in a Partition Wall?

In this article we explain how to cut a window opening in a finished plasterboard partition wall.

Tools and products you need:

  • Tape Measure
  • Pencil
  • Level
  • Drywall Screwdriver
  • Drywall Saw
  • Drill Bit
  • Angle Grinder

Here are the steps we followed:

We start by measuring the length and width of the window that we will later install.

With a pencil and a level, we mark the dimensions on the wall, leaving 2 cm for leveling and sealing of the window.

We drill holes in the four corners of the marked shape with a drill bit, as well as along the length and width of the marked lines.

Then with a drywall saw we make incisions in the wall along the length and width of the shape. We use a drywall screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the plasterboard to the profiles and separate them from the profiles and the wall.

We repeat the same actions for the other side of the wall.

With an angle grinder we cut the vertical profiles along the length of the hole.
