Harsh weather conditions and its impact on your dry construction project

Construction works during winter can be challenging due to adverse weather conditions. Even though drywall structures are usually installed indoors, our team shares a few tips on how to prevent winter from "freezing" your project!

1. Maintain a temperature of +5°C to +25°C

Ensure the workspace is properly heated to maintain a suitable temperature range for products' installation. It's best to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for each product.

2. Store dry construction products properly

Cold temperatures can affect the integrity of materials, causing freeze-thaw cycles or undesirable moisture accumulation. This can cause issues during installation. Therefore, ensure that products are stored properly, away from rain, snow, extreme temperatures, direct sun exposure, and other harmful weather conditions.

3. Pay special attention when working with dry mixtures

Cold weather can and will alter the consistency of mixtures and plasters. Store them in a warm area before usage, utilizing heating devices if necessary. During application, ensure a daytime temperature of min +8°C, as chemical reactions slow down when temperatures drop below +5°C, leading to uneven drying, high risk of freezing, and compromising the quality of the finished surface.

4. Plan working in smaller sections

Work efficiently in sections to avoid long exposure of materials to low temperatures. This ensures proper installation before the materials are affected by the cold.
Why is it important to meet all requirements for working in winter conditions? Our tips will help you avoid cracks, reduced strength, or detachment from the base after drying.
