Question 1: Can I use Blue Board for façade lining of eaves?

Answer: Blue Board GMFH1IR are specially designed to withstand aggressive atmospheric conditions and high levels of humidity and condensation. This makes them the perfect solution for façade lining of eaves.

To properly fix the board to the eaves we recommend using Blue Board TB 3.9x30 Super Premium Screw C5 reinforced with additional anti-corrosion coating. The Blue Board should be fixed cross to the mounting profiles using Blue Board drywall screw 3.9x30 at a max. 100 mm axial distance.

Important features when installing the metal structure under the eaves, depending on its type:

  • One-level construction using Premium profiles CD 60/ UD 27 with anti-corrosion coating class C3-C4 or C5 depending on the application area - for eaves up to 600 mm wide.
  • Two-level construction using Premium profiles CD 60/ UD 27 and Nonius hanger with anti-corrosion coating class C3-C4 or C5 depending on the application area - for eaves from 600 to 1000 mm wide.
  • Installation of the peripheral UD 27 profiles to the enclosing structure with the suitable fasteners at max. 500 mm axial distance.

The next steps you need to follow are laying a cement-based adhesive with a thickness of 3-5 mm and adding render reinforced mesh for façade application.

The final step of the finishing of the eaves is coating them with a thin layer of plaster.

Question 2: I want to line the outsides of an indoors fireplace. Can I use Blue Board for this purpose?

Answer: Blue Board GMFH1IR is reinforced with special additives and with double-sided waterproof glass fibre mat which makes it extremely resistant to high temperatures and absolutely non-combustible with fire reaction class – A1. When using Blue Board for outer lining of the fireplace we recommend that you first insulate the heat using a minimum of 50 mm stone wool with a density of 50 kg/m3 between the fireplace and the board so that the temperature does not exceed 40 degrees.

Question 3: What type of boards, profiles and accessories should I use for the construction of shower enclosure at home?

Answer: To build a shower enclosure at home you should use the innovative Blue Board GMFH1IR which is resistant to intensive humidity, mold, and condensation. То ensure the highest durability and long life of the construction, build the metal construction using the special Super Premium profiles and fasteners with anti-corrosion coating. The most suitable profiles and accessories for this type of construction are:

  • CW Super Premium Profile
  • UW Super Premium Profile
  • Blue Board TB 3.9x30 mm Super Premium Screw C5
