HOW TO: Tips for working with Premium profiles UA, construct a door opening, install a water heater in a wall lining

Today we provide more information on the following subjects: how and what to use Premium profiles UA for, how to properly construct a door opening and what to consider when installing a water heater in wall lining.

Read more here:

Question 1: What are UA profiles and what are they used for?

Answer: Technogips Pro Premium Profiles UA are specially enhanced profiles with a thickness of 2.0 mm to withstand significantly heavier loads compared to standard profiles with a thickness of 0.6 mm. They can be used for the construction of door and window openings as well as for mounting heavy objects in wall linings and walls.

To properly fix the UA profiles to floors and ceilings you need to use UA angles and bolts for UA angles. It is extremely important to leave the bolts of the upper UA angle loose to avoid rigid connection between the partition wall and the main structure. This helps avoiding cracks at the joints due to deformations in the main structure of the building from subsidence, earthquake or sagging of the floor slab.

Technogips Pro Premium Profiles UV come in 3 sizes:

-UA 50

-UA 75

-UA 100

For each of the sizes you will also find a corresponding UA angle.

Question 2: What are the steps I should follow when constructing a door opening?

Answer: To construct a door opening in a partition wall first you need to start with marking the axis of the partition wall and preparing the peripheral UD profiles for fixing to the floor and ceiling. Cut the bottom UD profile where the door opening is going to be.

We recommend using the enhanced Premium Profiles UA for the construction of the door opening, because they are specially designed for constructions with intensive and heavy load. The connection between the

UA profiles and the floor and ceiling is made with UA angles and bolts for UA angles (corresponding with the width of the profiles used). Leave the bolts of the upper UA angle loose to avoid rigid connection between the partition wall and the main structure. This helps avoiding cracks at the joints due to deformations in the main structure of the building from subsidence, earthquake or sagging of the floor slab.

Form the door lintel with a UW profile, specially sized with a length of 2x250 mm + the door opening. Install the lintel with Self-drilling screws TEX 4.2x13 to the UA profiles. The vertical CW profiles are measured, cut and positioned at 600 mm, so that above the lintel there is 1 vertical element for single-layer or 2 vertical elements for double-layer cladding. The minimum distance of the vertical CW profiles above the lintel must be 150 mm from the UA profiles.

Once the construction of the profiles is ready you can proceed to mounting of the plasterboard.

The boards along the door opening are cut out in L-shape to reinforce the upper corners.

Question 3: I want to install a water heater in a wall lining. What should I consider?

Answer: If you want to install a water heater to a wall lining you need to start by building the construction of the wall lining. You need to fix the Premium Profiles UW to the floor and ceiling and the vertical CW profile to the wall.

The water heater needs to be installed on enhanced Premium Profiles UA. They are fixed to the floor and ceiling with UA angles and bolts for UA angles. Leave the bolts of the upper UA angle loose to avoid rigid connection between the partition wall and the main structure. This helps avoiding cracks at the joints due to deformations in the main structure of the building from subsidence, earthquake or sagging of the floor slab.

On the vertical UA profiles, the UA profiles are mounted horizontally again with the help of UA angles and bolts. The studs for holding the boiler are installed in them.

Once you have fixed all the studs, you can proceed to close the wall lining. For spaces with high humidity levels, we recommend the use of Moisture resistant plasterboard type H2 or Blue Board type GMFH1I3.
