What are the Different Types of Dry Construction Tape?

In this article we give more information about the different types of tape used in dry construction.

The types of tape we mention in the video:

  • Paper Joint Tape
  • Glass-fibre Joint Tape
  • Self-adhesive Joint Tape
  • Acoustic Tape

The paper joint tape is suitable for reinforcing the joints between plasterboard as part of level Q1 of the finished surface – joint filling. It can also be used for taping inner corners in plasterboard walls. It will protect the wall from cracks and will make the bond between the boards even more reliable. We recommend using paper joint tape with the gypsum-based joint fillers FUGA and FUGA Hydro as well as with the ready-to-use compound FUGA and FINISH Light. Technogips Pro Paper Joint Tape is 50 mm wide and 150 m long.

The glass-fibre joint tape, also known as fiberglass tape, is also used for reinforcing the joints between boards. It works perfectly with the dry mixtures FUGA and FUGA Hydro and can also be used with FUGA & FINISH Light. The Technogips Pro Glass-fibre Joint Tape is 50 mm wide and comes with a length of 25 m.

The self-adhesive joint tape is a strong and flexible tape which can be used for reinforcing the joints between plasterboard as well as for filling holes and cracks in walls. It can be applied directly on the naked joints and boards and then be coated with the suitable mixture – FUGA, FUGA Hydro, FUGA and FINISH Light. When filling cracks and holes we recommend you fill them with the mixture first and then reinforce it with the self-adhesive tape followed by a coat of the mixture. Technogips Pro offers the Self-adhesive Joint Tape in 3 different lengths – 20 m, 45 m, 90 and a width of 48 mm.

The acoustic tape is a self-adhesive tape used for sealing the space between the peripheral and vertical profiles and the solid floor, ceiling, and wall. It effectively improves the sound insulation in the premises by stopping the spread of impact noise and vibration from the floor and ceiling. Technogips Pro Acoustic Tape is available in 4 different widths – 30 mm, 45 mm, 65 mm, 90 mm suitable for the basic profile widths, it has a thickness of 3 mm and is 30 m long.
