High walls, Suitable products for achieving surface quality levels (Q1-Q4), the most suitable tape for reinforcing joints.

Today we provide more information on the following subjects: do we offer solutions for high walls, what are the most suitable products for each of the surface quality levels (Q1-Q4) and what is the most suitable tape for reinforcing joints.
Question 1: Do you offer solutions for high walls over 4 metres?
Answer: Technogips Pro offers system solutions for high walls over 4 metres and up to 12 metres. High walls are common in public and industrial buildings, whose projects require certified walls with high leves of fire protection and sound insulation.
Some of the most sought-after system solutions for high walls are partition walls W1-2 and W1-3 which are certified and meet the highest requirements for fire protection and sound insulation and provide fire protection up to 180 minutes and sound insulation from airborne nouse up to 68 dB. Our technical department is always availabe for a free professional consultation or to prepare a technical offer.
Question 2: What products should I use during the different levels of surface finishing?
Answer: According to Eurogypsum’s classification there are four levels of surface finishing – Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4.
Level Q1 is a basic requirement for joint filling between the gypsum wallboards (including the visible parts of the screws) and is considered sufficient for surfaces with following decorative thin-layered coatings. We recommend using FUGA gypsum joint filler for filling the joints in level Q1.
Level Q2 is the plastering and widening of the aligned joint area to achieve a smooth gradual transition between the wallboards. We recommend using FUGA for level Q2.
Level Q3 is the complete fine plastering of the surface. Level Q3 corresponds to the increased requrements for the quality of the finished surface. To achieve level Q3 we recommend using FUGA gypsum joint filler or SATEN gypsum skim coat which is part of our series of fine mixtures.
In order for the wall to meet the highest standards of surface quality a level Q4 skim coating is required.
We recommend using SATEN, and to achieve a perfectly smooth wall we advise you to lightly sand the paper.
All surface quality levels can also be achieved with FUGA & FINISH Light ready-to-use universal compound.
Question 3: What tape should I use for reinforcing joints?
Answer: We recommend using paper joint tape when reinforcing the factory tapered edges of the plasterboards. The paper tape has microperforations and at the same time high elasticity, which prevents the joint from cracking when the substrate moves.
To reinforce non-factory joints we recommend using glass-fibre joint tape. It has a minimum thickness and allows precise alignment of the wall. It is mandatory to pre-cut the non-factory joints at an angle of 45 ° to 2/3 of the thickness of the board (so-called chamfer) to facilitate the entry of the mixture into the joint.
The strong and flexible self-adhesive joint tape can also be used for reinforcing joints and it can be applied directly on the naked joints and boards and then be coated with the suitable mixture.
