Question 1: Which surface quality levels can I achieve with FUGA?
Answer: FUGA is a gypsum-based jointing compound which is specially developed for professional joint filling between plasterboards – surface quality level Q1 and Q2 and is also suitable for complete finishing of the wall – level Q3. To achieve the highest standard of surface quality finishing – Q4, we recommend using our fine gypsum-based skim coat compound – SATEN or FUGA & FINISH Light – our lightweight and ready to use universal compound.
Question 2: How to properly prepare the dry mixture?
Answer: Whether you are using FUGA, FUGA Hydro or SATEN it is important to follow the exact steps of preparation to get a homogenous mixture with perfect consistency every time.
Fill a clean container with clean water, and gradually pour the mixture so that 1-2 mm of water remain above the level of the mixture.
The water: mixture ration for each product is as follows:
- FUGA – 2.8 l water for 5 kg of product (≈560 ml for 1 kg)
- FUGA Hydro – 2.8 l water for 5 kg of product (≈560 ml for 1 kg)
- SATEN - 7.5 l water for 10 kg of product (≈750 ml for 1 kg)
After you have poured the required amount of product in the water let the material settle for 3-5 minutes. Then you can start stirring the mixture. You can do that manually or with a mixer at low revolutions (in order not to draw air into the mixture, because otherwise the setting time changes).
Drying time is different for every product and depends on the thickness of the applied layer and the environmental conditions – temperature and relative humidity. Under optimal ambient conditions of 20° C temperature and relative humidity of 60%, the drying times are as follows:
- Level Q1 with FUGA, FUGA Hydro or FUGA & FINISH Light – 24 hours
- Level Q2 with FUGA, FUGA Hydro or FUGA & FINISH Light – 8 hours
- Level Q3 with FUGA, FUGA Hydro, SATEN or FUGA & FINISH Light – 24 hours
- Level Q4 with SATEN or FUGA & FINISH Light – 24 hours.
Question 3: What tools and accessories should I use with FUGA?
Answer: Working with FUGA does not require any special tools other than the standard ones used in dry construction – bucket, joint knife, trowel. It is extremely important that all tools are completely clean, as dried areas of old material reduce the open time for work of the product.
FUGA is compatible with all joint tapes that Technogips Pro provides – paper, fiber glass and self-adhesive. For best results and impeccable strength, we recommend using the paper joint tape. For optimal smoothness of the wall we recommend using sandpaper with grits from 120 to 220.
Question 4: When should I use FUGA and when FUGA Hydro
Answer: FUGA is suitable for application in premises with normal humidity up to 70% and is compatible with all Technogips Pro plasterboards.
FUGA Hydro is specially developed for application in humid premises with relative humidity over 70% and should be used with the moisture resistant boards H2 and Blue Board GMFH1IR.
